With a 130-year legacy of public education in the heart of Balmain, Birchgrove PS blends rich heritage with forward-thinking learning environments. This new playground follows suit — a future-proofed space for movement, exploration, and connection, thoughtfully designed to slot into its unique surroundings.

The standout feature? A fully customised Connect unit, equipped with a 4m SkyClimber, and Stepping Pods — all engineered with corrosion resistance as standard, to withstand the salty coastal breeze and keep looking sharp for decades.

Installation wasn’t without its challenges. The steep, multi-level site required careful planning and precision — but the result is a dynamic play space that feels at home on the edge of one of Australia’s most iconic landscapes.

Set in our rainforest-inspired ‘Daintree Discovery’ colour palette, the playground echoes the green canopy of nearby reserves, softening the structure against its historic red-brick backdrop and leafy surrounds.

Designed to cater to a high-energy student cohort, the space balances movement, coordination and social play. From scaling the SkyClimber to hopping across Stepping Pods or simply hanging out — there’s something for every age and ability, all within a compact footprint that maximises play value.

More than just a playground, it’s a place to recharge, reset and connect. And with a view like this, who wouldn’t want to stay outside a little longer?
